We had a great time at this hostel! the staff were very friendly and helpful, always there to assist us. the dorm room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, with air conditioning to keep us cool. One of the best parts was the delicious breakfast included in our stay - we enjoyed mouthwatering waffles with fruit and maple syrup. Plus, we loved the option to refill our water for free and use the kitchen to cook our own meals.
The beds for relaxing on the rooftop were not usable.

The staff were incredibly helpful, providing me with valuable information about ferry schedules and things to do in the area. The facilities were nice, including a common room with Netflix and a rooftop terrace. I especially enjoyed being able to rent bicycles for free. The location was convenient, making it a perfect stopover for travelers headed to or from Belize. Despite a few minor drawbacks mentioned in other reviews, overall I would recommend this hostel for its friendly atmosphere and helpful staff.

The rooftop of the hotel had amazing views of the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist who gave me great advice on how to travel to a nearby destination. Additionally, the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the AC worked well.
The location of the hotel was not ideal as there were no supermarkets, nice restaurants, or bars nearby. The bathroom in the shared dorm was very small and there was no separation between the shower and the rest of the room, causing it to quickly flood.

The hostel was clean and located in a safe area of the city. The staff, particularly Jorge, was knowledgeable and helpful in organizing day trips to places like Bacalar and Calakmul. We had a pleasant surprise in Chamula, as the Downtown Hostel turned out to be a great place to stay. It was affordable, friendly, and offered quiet and comfortable rooms. We enjoyed our stay so much that we ended up extending it by two days, just to rest and relax. After experiencing noisy hostels in Bacalar that cost much more, this was a refreshing break. The location is convenient too, with easy access to collectivos for a quick trip to Bacalar. Cons: Nothing, no complaints at all. 😊.
